Savings grow because of three things: how much you put in, the rate you earn and how long you leave it. These calculators cover the main ways people save and invest, from simple and compound interest to fixed deposits, provident funds, retirement accounts and inflation.

Start with the Interest Calculator or the Fixed Deposit Calculator to see what a lump sum becomes. Use the 401(k) Calculator for US retirement saving with an employer match, and the PF and SSY calculators for Indian savings schemes. The Inflation Calculator shows what your money will actually buy later, and the CAGR Calculator compares investments on a like-for-like yearly growth rate.

Which calculator should I use?

Want to know what a lump sum grows to? Use the Interest Calculator.

Putting money in a fixed deposit or CD? Use the Fixed Deposit Calculator.

Saving for retirement in the US? Use the 401(k) Calculator.

Wondering if your money keeps up with rising prices? Use the Inflation Calculator.

Comparing two investments over different periods? Use the CAGR Calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between simple and compound interest?

Toggle answer
Simple interest is calculated only on the original amount. Compound interest is calculated on the original amount plus the interest already earned, so growth speeds up over time. The more often interest compounds, and the longer you leave it, the bigger the difference.

Why does inflation matter for my savings?

Toggle answer
Inflation reduces what each unit of money can buy. If your savings earn less than inflation, their real value falls even though the balance goes up. The Inflation Calculator shows how much more you will need in the future to buy what costs a given amount today.

What is CAGR and when should I use it?

Toggle answer
CAGR (compound annual growth rate) is the single yearly rate that would take an investment from its starting value to its ending value over a period. It lets you compare investments held for different lengths of time on one scale. It smooths out the ups and downs, so it does not show how bumpy the journey was.
